MUST READ: Pre 2021 Finals: Chris Paul Has Become Overrated

The MVP narrative for cp3 has been nauseating all season. Even in the playoffs, the media has continued to baby him. They love to use non-basketball terms/phrases like "leadership", "intangibles", "winning player", "impact goes beyond the stats", and "great locker room guy" to make certain players way better than they actually are which greatly screws up the all-star/all-NBA teams. I think he's the 2nd greatest modern era point guard behind Curry but he's been laughably overrated because he's gotten basically all the credit for the Suns huge jump in wins. (Chris got the same unnecessary praise last year in OKC too even though that team was successful due to an obviously balanced attack between FOUR players).

The pre 2021 Suns still would've missed the playoffs every year if you replaced Booker with Paul. Naturally, adding an all-star level player is going to greatly improve a team that was already on the rise, 8-0 in the bubble, with a borderline superstar player. I can use this cp3 MVP logic to say that Mo Williams should've won in 2009 instead of LeBron. The Cavs were 21 wins better than the prior season and Mo was added to the team while becoming an all star. The same logic applies to the 2008 Lakers with Pau deserving it over Kobe. No sane person would put Mo and Pau in those MVP conversations because their production clearly proves that they weren't MVP level players in those seasons.

Booker, an elite shot creator with no holes in his game, averaged about TEN more points than Chris in the regular season. Scoring is by far the most important aspect in basketball (obviously there are other important parts). So 16 points per game, especially in today's era (where it's as easy as ever to score), isn't going to cut it AT ALL for Paul. A similar scoring gap (about 9 points) has occurred in the postseason between the Suns' 2 all-stars. But the media is responsible for Devin not being voted onto the all-star or the All-NBA teams this year (2 MAJOR crimes) so regardless of what happens in the finals, they'll likely protect their darling by awarding the finals MVP to cp3 instead of Booker.
