MUST READ: 2019 Playoffs: Raptors @ Bucks Game 5

I'm not saying this just because Milwaukee lost because I've long held this belief that they don't use Giannis nearly enough as a post up player and screener (i.e. a traditional big man). The Bucks were able to get away with this in the regular season and all the way until game 2 of this round. The reason is because the regular season is the regular season and in the postseason the teams they've faced are far inferior (Detroit) or played like a much lesser team (Boston; Toronto against Philly and vs Milwaukee the 1st 2 games). Even as talented and physically overwhelming as Giannis is, it's still very hard for him to consistently attack a set defense waiting for him with a really subpar jumpshot. But for the most part, he's made it look easy. For years, he's been very underrated as a post player where he can receive the ball much closer to the rim at an angle that offers a greater risk for the defense if they send help. And it seems like Toronto doubles him every time he has the ball in that area anyway. As a screener, it's far easier for Giannis to get the ball in the paint which creates good shots for him or teammates if enough of the defense collapses. In the post or as a screener he expends way less energy than trying to drive through a wall over and over again. Energy Giannis needs to defend Kawhi. He's clearly the most qualified Leonard defender so I don't know why they don't use this tactic enough or at all (I forgot which is the case) to slow him down, at least in the 4th quarter when the game is on the line. Brogdon and Middleton have played great defense on him but lack the size to be the #1 option when it counts the most (see the very end of game 3 as an example). That energy is also needed for him to stop missing so many free throws because that will likely come back to haunt him if he has to make clutch free throws. If his free throw shooting becomes a liability in that sense, he won't be nearly as effective offensively, especially with his almost non existing jumpshot which makes it much harder than it already is for him to be the main offensive option late in a game. If nothing changes for Milwaukee, they'll probably be eliminated or lose to Golden State if they advance. Unless Kawhi's supporting cast starts playing really inconsistent again (which is also a great probability). By the way, a lot of what I wrote was why I picked Toronto to win this series before the playoffs. I changed my mind once I saw them vs Philly.
