November 18, 2019: Spurs @ Mavs (End of Game)

WHAT ARE WE DOING? DID WE NOT LEARN FROM GAME 7 ABOUT WHEN TO FOUL? WE JUST GAVE THAT GAME AWAY  🤦‍♀️ . Luka is great but we guarded him basically every time with players that are way too little/skinny (Murray, White, Mills, Forbes) which is why he scored at will. Gay, Lyles, or even Carroll (who strangely started playing in the 4th but whatever) are much better options. Unfortunately none of them are defensive aces, another of one o ur problems. Not having forwards on the perimeter who can slow down a guy like Doncic is very problematic. I'm surprised I didn't develop a drinking problem in the 1st half after I saw Porzingis launch wide open 3 after wide open 3. Too many turnovers. Too many offensive rebounds given up. Patty took an awful 3 late in the 4th that badly hurt our chances of winning.

November 18, 2019: Spurs @ Mavs (Halftime)

I understand wanting to trade DeMar (a lot of spurs fans want this) if we're trying to rebuild (he has the most trade value by far for teams looking to win) but the thought of trying to score in a close game late in the 4th with our only option being to dump the ball into a lumbering, past his prime, 34 year old Aldridge in the post keeps me up at night. DeMar is the only proven go-to scorer and if we're trying to win, trading him makes no sense. He's single-handedly keeping us afloat tonight because of his elite scoring ability.

November 12, 2019: Lakers @ Suns

Don't be fooled by LeBron's stats: 19 points, 8-18 from the field, 11 assists, and 7 rebounds. That's one of the worst games I've ever seen him play. His lack of mobility on offense is GLARING. He can barely get by defenders off the bounce (which is why he took a lot of very tough jumpers late in the game, mostly from 3) and can hardly get off the ground (which is why he missed too many layups). And he was very passive in terms of looking for his shot until late in the 4th qu arter which probably is a result of a major decline in his athletic ability. I'm not gonna overreact and say he's washed. He's still putting up insane numbers largely because he's still a great scorer. But these problems are definitely worth monitoring especially come playoff time versus western conference contenders because the Lakers won't win the west unless he plays with a pep in his step on a consistent basis.

November 3, 2019: Lakers @ Spurs

It was so frustrating to see how many times DeMar ended up defending LeBron or AD on the block, which is one of the reasons we lost. We have better options so that's inexcusable. Another reason is the Lakers effectiveness on the offensive glass. I've criticized them for playing Davis with McGee or Howard but teams usually play one traditional big at once so the Lakers dual-big lineup can take advantage of that (like Dwight did a lot tonight). That's problematic for a team like the Spurs who only have two traditional big men in their rotation (Aldridge, Poeltl) so San Antonio can't play two of those kind of players all game because LaMarcus and Jakob will be way too tired.

October 27, 2019: Blazers @ Mavs

Luka really needs another move in the clutch besides the step back contested three, a problem that was evident last year . This is where his lack of quickness becomes a problem which is why I thought he was very overrated coming into the NBA. But he made me look like a complete fool by showing off his craftiness with a variety of moves to become an extremely talented scorer. However, if he's going to be one-dimensional down the stretch of close games, especially in the playoffs, Dallas is going to be in big trouble because that step back will be their number one option like it has always been.

October 23, 2019: Celtics @ Sixers

I liked Tatum's shot selection in the 1st half even though he was inefficient during that time. He had a nice variety of drives and jumpshots, something he struggled to do last season because he settled too often for contested mid-range j's. Tatum was very active offensively in the 1st half but hardly had much of a role in the 2nd which was puzzling. The same goes for Brown in the 2nd. Both are too talented to be bystanders for as long as they were tonight. At least Hayward played really well because he was very effective at attacking the rim (to score and draw fouls) and getting clean mid-range looks off of pick n rolls. His pick n roll effectiveness is what primarily made him an all star in Utah and I'm very interested to see how close he can get to his glory days.
